3D Printing FAQ

3D printing is a manufacturing process that creates physical objects layer by layer from a digital 3D model. It allows rapid prototyping and production of complex shapes that would be difficult or impossible with traditional manufacturing.

We accept most common 3D file formats, including:

  • STL (most common)

  • STEP / STP

  • OBJ

  • 3MF

  • Any CAD files such as f3d / DWG or AutoCAD assembly files.

Yes. We can create a 3D model from sketches, photos, measurements, or concepts. Cost depends on scope and complexity.

We offer FDM and  Resin SLA printing in house. We can also source SLS and SLM parts with our manufacturing partners.

We ship locally and internationally, and we offer local pick up if you are in Cairns!

Common materials include:

  • PLA – Affordable, good for prototypes and display parts

  • PETG – Strong, durable, and water-resistant

  • ABS – Heat-resistant and tough

  • TPU – Flexible and rubber-like

  • Nylon – High strength and wear resistance

We can recommend the best material for your application.

We also work with vendors to supply printed metal parts in Aluminium, Stainless steel and ot her exotic alloys.

Nylon and PETG are typically the most cost effective material for most applications. Material selection also depends on your application as materials have different physical properties.

Pricing depends on:

  • Size of the part

  • Material used

  • Print time

  • Complexity

  • Quantity

We provide quotes before printing.

Yes. Discounts are available for larger quantities or repeat orders.

Typical turnaround times:

  • Small parts: 1–3 days

  • Medium parts: 2–5 days

  • Large or complex parts: 5–10 days

Materials might need to be ordered so lead time varies.

Urgent jobs may be accommodated.

All 3D printed parts have layer lines. While SLS and Resin SLA process have finer and less noticable lines, layer lines on FDM prints will be much more prominent.

We can print up to 400mm in one piece. Larger parts can often be printed in sections and assembled.
